For the price of Google Adwords, you’re better off.

Customer service is more concerned on how to service their own business instead of the consumer.

NOTE: If you sign up for the premium listing and want to cancel, make sure you do it before the next billing date of the month. They do not give refunds and if you call to cancel your listing on the day it was registered, it will be another billing cycle (it’s how they “help small business grow”)… so you have to call like a day or two before it is time or wait a whole other month.


  1. You are right with manta, they are a big fraud.

    I used manta for 3 months and got very unsatisfactory results.

    • I give this company a 0 rating. DO NOT TRUST THEM! They told me to call them back the day before my free trial ends to cancel if I did not want to be billed and wanted to cancel. For 5 days now, all I get is a message that they are closed for a company wide meeting. You cannot even leave a message.

  2. I used Manta before, but I think as mentioned, you’re better off going with Google Adwords.

    AdWords ads can be really helpful if you’re looking to drive traffic to your site fast. If you’re into SEO, you’re looking from weeks to months for results. Google AdWords is instant.

    You can be up and running on AdWords in a very short space of time. While there is a lot more to AdWords than just campaigns, adgroups, keywords and ads, these are the building blocks. And you can set them up very quickly. Do a bit of keyword research, decide on your budget, set up a campaign and a few adgroups, write some killer ad copy, and away you go! Your ads will appear as soon as they’ve been approved, which could be instantaneous.

    You have the chance to appear on the first page of the Internet’s largest search engine! And what does that mean? Exposure, exposure, exposure. And you’re appearing to someone who’s actively searching for what you offer when they really need it. Timing is, as they say, everything!

    It can be done on a budget. AdWords doesn’t have to be expensive. Sure, if you’re a personal injury lawyer, you might be looking at a cost per click of about £50-£60, but if you’re not, it’s quite easy for small businesses to set up small, tightly optimised campaigns and reap the benefits. You can specify how much you’re willing to spend, and set your maximum cost per click for your keywords, and then you only pay for clicks. This allows you to maintain control of your spend.

  3. I have a home business and recently googled my name to find that has posted my home address for the online without my permission on Google. In order to correct the info, they tell you to claim the profile, so I did, and I changed the location.

    It just created an alternative profile and my name and home address is still on googles websearch for everyone to see.

    Isn’t this illegal for them to invade your privacy?!

    I emailed them several times and nothing and they refuse to post a phone number on there site.

  4. Complaint: Our company listing upon a simple Google search shows listing the a/the “principal” of our business and it is COMPLETELY WRONG. Furthermore, the individual they claim is the principal has never worked for our company……ever. The Google search reveals has “information” about our company and apparently they claim to know management and ownership individuals, but they are wrong. This is misleading to our customers and it is not acceptable because when we deal with our customers, they think this phantom “principal” works here and the person is not (and never has worked) with our company. These type of marketing schemes that claim to have information on companies is useless and causes issues for companies that have to explain is wrong. However, has not taken down it’s wrong information.

    Desired Settlement: Remove, delete, and do not put anything on our company profile that is false. If this action is not taken immediately, we will seek legal intervention if necessary.

The basic company information on Manta is collected by third-party publishers through multiple sources such as trade records, public records such as business registrations and government registries. Claiming the profile is free and allows you to replace the profile information on Manta with information that comes directly from you. A claimed profile can include your own words, pictures and more. To claim your company profile, just locate your company on Manta and click the “Edit Company Info” button.

    If instead you wish to have the company profile removed from, please provide the name of the company as it appears on Manta along with the city and state; or the Manta webpage address (URL) that displays the company listing so that we may assist you.

    Consumer Response:

    The name of the company is: ********* ********** ** ******* ********* *****. We wished to have it removed since the information is incorrect. Us claiming the profile is nothing more than rectifying false information already presented. Please remove the profile and we will then accept the terms and have no further issues.

  5. Complaint: Company uses deceptive advertising re services. I discovered that they have been charging various fees to a credit card account for unknown services without my knowledge or authorization. When contacted they offered apology and agreed to cancel future fees but were unwilling to refund money. They cannot show proof of my ordering a charge to my account in July this year for $40.50 nor the $29.00 per month they have charged to my account for August, September and October for a total of $127.00.I do not know what service they have provided.

    Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the $127.00 of unauthorized charges.

When upgrading to a Premium Business listing Manta gives you the tools in order to become more visible online to your potential customers. It is up to the customer to use those tools Manta gives to market their company. We show on July 3, 2012 that you spoke with a sales representative at Manta and discussed upgrading to one of our Premium Business Listing’s. We honored a half off promotion for your first month as stated by ******, the sales representative. When signing up with Manta it clearly states in the terms and conditions that this is a monthly subscription and we do not honor refunds if you decided to cancel after the renewal date.

    Due to the confusion we did honor one refund of $29.00 back to your credit card. Please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to process back to your credit card.

    Consumer Response: I called Manta Media again after their response. I talked with a gentleman named “***”..(.the only name he would give0. He was courteous and said he would review all facts I presented and then call me back shortly. *** did that. He called back to state that he had found from another department that I HAD telephoned a cancellation of the pay program and that Manta would refund the unauthorized charges made after the cancellation. He stated they had already credited back one $29 charge that applied to October billing. He stated the $40.50 charge could not be credited as it was billed before my cancellation. According to his assessment; I am due credits for the months of August and September at $29 each. I am waiting to see if those credits are made…so far nothing has appeared on my credit card account.

  6. Complaint: This company called me for advertising purposes. they had a one month trial for 14.99 where they agreed to put me on their site and advertise my business. After 2 or 3 days I noticed nothing had changed on my original page. i called the 1800 number (which can not be found after they get your credit card and every time i called i was told i was calling the wrong department and they would call me back. No one ever called. Today is the 20 day point. I do not want to get charged $40 for a service not provided so i am going to cancel my credit card. There is a reason they are not ac credited!!!Do not give these people your money!!

We show the customer requested a Premium Business Listing on June 14. The customer received a 50% discount on the first month of service; therefore the first month charge was $14.50. The
    customer spoke to an agent who canceled the Premium Business Listing subscription on June 26. The company profile reverted
    to a free listing on July 14. There have been no additional charges.

    The Manta Terms and Conditions state in part: If you request
    that your Premium Business Listing be removed before the end of the Initial
    Term or a Renewal Term for which you have pre-paid the recurring monthly or
    annual fee, you agree that Manta will not be required to refund any portion of
    such fee.

  7. is displaying my personal information on my home address as it is a business. I do not operatate a business out of my home and they are showing personal (private, prorfessional income from a company near where i live. I tried to call customer support at ###-###-####, option 1 for customer support. I received the message “We are closed, we are open 8am to 6pm eastern time.. Goodbye”. I called many times betweeen 8 and 9 am eastern time. the link is******-****** for my PERSONAL information. I did not email them as they do not need anymore of my personal information. WHere did they get this information????

  8. I agreed to sign up to Manta with the expectation that someone was going to call me as a “coach”. They told me that someone would contact me and that this was the only way that I could cancel the agreement, so I waited for this person to call me, but this person never called me and they billed me for additional services that I had planned on canceling. I called on the 8th to see if someone was going to call me, but they did not answer their phone. I managed to get a hold of someone on the morning of the 9th, but they said they could not give me my money back for the following month’s service, even though they never held the agreement to call me and give me a chance to cancel. I do not see a withdrawal on my account as of yet, but it is scheduled. In either case, the lady on the phone could have canceled the service for today, but instead said that it would continue for another month and that I could not get a refund for this time period and that I have been billed already.

This company called me to list my business name for $29.00 a month on july 8th next day I check with credit card customer service I notice Manta charged my credit card $39.00 and anther charge of $29.00 I cancelled the contract same day bu to emails and ask to return the credit back to my c. card ,no action has been taken by Manta I dont like to do business with dis honest comany.

  10. MANTA is a giant rip off!!!! they say that they will put you on google ect…… they charge 30 dollars a month and give you nothing but a direct withdrawl from your credit card or bank account. They are useless and business has not improved for me. I have used them for 6 months and they do nothing. The guy calls you and gives you a line of bullcrap, dont believe it and stay far far far far away from them. When you try to cancel they wont let you, they say you signed a contract when really you did not. Their a giant SCAM!

  12. Thanks, everyone for saving me a bundle and cartloads of headache. Glad I checked here before getting that cheap first month intro rate.
    Sounds almost as bad as CityGrid Media. My complaint about them was 40 to 50 points of bad to fraudulent service. Maybe the same company, different desks…

  13. I registered my small business with Manta because they said it was free. Immediately I got call from them. They offered paid advertising. I told that before I pay I would like to see how they work and then make my decision. They left me alone. Literally. In few month all their reports show 0 Page Views, 0 recommendations, 0 followers. Either nobody know manta and nobody use it for search or they did not show my info because i did not pay them.
    After another report with 0 everything i found this page.
    Very disappointing. I am glad I did not pay them.

  14. I understand you have a listing “Cal Sierra Supply”. Information should be Cal Sierra Supply, Inc, a California corporation, dba Golding Sales. John Golding is a member of MANTA. Can you make this correction? Thank you.
